Now, I almost missed out on this amazing miracle. I was too busy looking at a door that I thought was shutting, not noticing that God was holding a completely different door open. God has been doing that lately, surprising me in ways I wasn't expecting.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love my Lord? <3
So, about four or five years ago I got a guitar for Christmas, as well as Timothy and Matthew. However, shortly after we got them, Noah started to get sick and All That Stuff began. Poor Jenna [what I had named my guitar] was left in the corner and hardly ever played with. Every once in awhile I would pull her out and let a friend mess around with it, and sometimes I would "play" on it, but every time I tried to get lessons, it was as if God was going "nooo, not yet!"
Skip to two days before Noah's fundraiser....
Justin, our worship leader, donated at the very last minute 5 free guitar lessons for Noah's auction right as my Grandma walked in the door with a $500 guitar someone else donated for the auction. So we put the two items together as a package, with me desperately wishing there was some way to 'steal' the lessons.
Not really. Okay, maybe a little. *ahem*
Then there's The Lady From California, a reader of Noah's blog [and since I'm not sure if she wants me to use her real name, I'm calling her this for now. You know who you are! :-)] who randomly decided to fly out from CA this weekend and visit us while attending Noah's fundraiser.
Here's the part where I almost missed the open door. The live auction started, and I was starting to feel a bit upset because the first couple items went for less than $50, when they were worth waaay more than that. I walked out and tried not to cry, kinda stomped my foot at God and demanded what was going on. I didn't want to go back in, it was all to heart-wrenching, but God took me by the hand and dragged me back in, just as the guitar and lessons were about to start getting bid on. I noticed that The Lady From California had gotten an art kit, but when I asked if it was for her grandkids, she said "Oh, I got this for your family!" Then she pointed at the guitar and said "and I'll get that for you." Before I could protest, she bid on it and eventually got it.
I sat there sobbing like a baby because I was so happy! I did try telling her I already had one, but she was all "well, you have two now! I bet you need another one, you got that other one years ago," and such. Excuses, excuses, Lady From California! But thank you anyway. *hugs*
So now I have two guitars and free guitar lessons! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Jenna, maybe give it to Matthew [who is passing his on to David because it's too small for him now], or sell it to earn some money for a writers class I hope to start this fall [more on that some other time].
But now I need your help! One of my quirks is that I love to name things, so I need a name for this guitar.
~I'm really into names and their meanings, so if you suggest a name and know the meaning behind it, let me know!
~Feel free to suggest as many many names as you want! From 1 to 100, it doesn't matter. :-)
~The winner will get...a surprise. I'm not sure what yet. *muwahaha*
~Please note that I'll be using a name if I like it, not because I like the person who suggested it!
Oh, and my prayer request. I've been sick this past week, first with a cruel cold and now it seems I have Laryngitis, along with something else. Both my ears are clogged and everything sounds all fuzzy, and I can hardly talk without this chest-tearing cough. My throat really hurts too, and if I get a chance to talk, it's all hoarse and rasping. >.< I don't need this. I'm going to see the doctor again tomorrow, probably, so please pray that it goes well and that I start to feel well soon!
Before I go, here's a song I want to share with you. When The Lady From California got my guitar, this was the first thing that came to mind, so this is the first song I want to learn to play...
Walking in Truth,

Ohhh happy day! :) Congrats, Half-Pint! I'm so happy for you! *hugs* Can't wait to hear you play! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is SO amazing and awesome about the guitar and lessons! I'm sorry the auction itself didn't seem to go very well, but I've been praying for the online auction, so I hope that is very successful!
ReplyDeleteAs far as names go...hmmm. I'll have to think on it a bit. ;)
Nice! You deserved it, and God bless the Lady from California!
ReplyDeleteAs far as names go, I could only come up with two . . . Kadence (meaning rhythm), and Lyra (Greek, meaning harp, or lyre). Not too cool, but anyway. *shrugs*
And I hope you get better soon!
That's amazing Laura!!! *hugs* I'm SO happy for you! What a blessing, ne? ^-^ Aaralyn, which means I think beautiful melody, Aika (love song), or Megumi (blessing). :) LOVE YOU!

Indeed, what a blessing! A guitar... with free lessons too. How crazy good is that? It shows how awesome our God is, and how he wants to bestow gifts on His children.
ReplyDeleteI hope the auction was a great success for your family. It would have been fun to attend something like that.
Blessings,
